IMPACT OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL CAREER DAY PROGRAMS
Career day is a perfect opportunity to create interest in school/business partnerships resulting in internships, support for student organizations, mentorships, scholarships, companies hosting field trips, and job shadow days. Many companies have provided technical advice for teachers and served as members of advisory committees.
Over 800 industry professionals have engaged with thousands of students in the past two decades. Speakers shared their career paths, passion, and knowledge, and provided valuable guidance in over 100 fields.

STACKING APPLES
Keynote speaker Justin Brezhnev shared the following conversation he had with a student from the event:
“Recently I gave a keynote speech at St. Bernard High School for their Career Day. During the breakout session, a student approached and asked me: How do you find your passion? I waited for a moment and thought about how to answer this question. As a person who is constantly juggling multiple passions and is still growing as an entrepreneur, how do I give this student who is ten years younger than me the right advice?
She realized my hesitation was me thinking of how to answer this question, so the student figured it might be too difficult! Before she could utter a different question, my answer rolled out:
Stack as many apples as you can onto your arms. Then start walking forward. Apples will begin to fall off as your arms get tired over time, as the wind picks up, and maybe you'll even trip on a rock as you're walking. But that's OK. The apples that you're left with are what you care about. You'll be full and have enough to feel safe. But there may come a time when you see an apple so beautiful, so ripe, so perfectly shaped fall from your arms and to the ground. And you will stop. You will turn around and walk back. You'll be willing to sacrifice losing the apples you have in your arms to be able to pick up this beautiful apple. That is your passion.
Thank you to Steve Rappaport for helping me find my passion, and so I'm continuing to walk forward with my apples.”
